My name is Anne O'Reilly. I am so excited to be a part of Coronado for the first time this year. This is my fourth year teaching English as a Second Language, and my 12th year teaching in Jefferson County. Working with multilingual students and families is such a joy to me. I love telling these students how much smarter they are than I am since they speak two languages and I only speak one!

I was born and raised here in Denver, and I love living in Colorado. I have two young sons, George and Gus, who go to school in our Denver neighborhood. In my free time, I love to read, spend time with my husband and kids, and enjoy the outdoors.

Fun Fact: Coronado families represent 12 different languages!

At Coronado we celebrate our diversity and learn from one another! Our ESL program provides support to our students who have been identified as having a language other than English in their background. ESL teachers and classroom teachers help students to develop English proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. English language support can include weekly collaboration with classroom teachers, co-teaching, targeted coaching sessions, short-term strategy groups, and flexible groups that may incorporate native English speakers working on similar skills. The ESL teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers to design instruction, enrichment, and interventions that help English language learners meet and exceed rigorous state academic standards.

Each English learner is in a unique place in their development of language. We consider many factors when designing English language intervention including ACCESS for ELL results, state assessments, informal observations, classroom teacher input, student input, and parent input. It is my goal to help all English language learners progress in their English language development to reach native-like proficiency, while encouraging continued proficiency in a student's first language. I would be happy to discuss your child's individual plan and progress at any time.
